  • Christine conducted the course in an open, friendly and relaxed manner, keeping us on track and reiterated learning strategies.

  • I have appreciated the opportunity to be a part of the [this programme] and I have really enjoyed my sessions with Christine…I have found it very valuable.  For me it was an opportunity to see myself in more of a leadership role, and learn more about the type of leader that I would be.  It also helped me to feel more energised in my position as I felt like I was getting stuck in a rut of the day to day, and that I didn't have a voice within the organisation.  I went back to [my branch] very enthusiastically with some projects to carry out that helped me feel like I was contributing more. I felt that the projects that we did between the first two sessions were great, as it helped me to step up …. and get some action on a few things.  I chose ………. which is one of the keys to a successful [branch], and it was good for me to take more responsibility around this (and also to know that I cannot do everything myself!)   It was a good opportunity to practise making goals, evaluating them and how to deal with 'road blocks' (particularly useful in my situation as there were a few here that I did not forsee!)  
  • I continue to like the 'simplicity' of the techniques. The emphasis on clarification and seeking approval, and the way it helps to build control of a situation is a valuable skill. It helps to reinforce that we can control being in the driver’s seat. I think these skills are not just sales related but very much so relationship building and strengthening also. (which when under control help the sales process).
  • Great workshop… interesting to hear and observe the opinions, experiences and processes of all the participants.

  • Have been through lots of workshops and training session in my time here with various companies—but I must admit, this is the first one where I was “engaged’ throughout—the topics were all so integrated and you transitioned into each different topic so smoothly; the breaks were all well timed and spaced—never did I feel like I needed to “get out and have a coffee or a break”; the size of the groups was cozy and yet diverse; the group activities were short and sweet and engaging.   • The facilitators were brilliant and engaging. Possibly the first course where I have been able to focus 110% for the duration. Past courses have managed to send myself and others into the twilight zone as they are slow paced, parts not relevant or hosts "dull" (this is a bit harsh but I couldn't think of another word to describe previous facilitators.
  • Julia and Alf are great presenters who have that ability to involve all participants. They create an environment where you want to learn and encourage participation by drawing it out in subtle ways even for those who are perhaps a little shy. The encouragement enables one's confidence to grow
  • Picked up some great new ideas and some of the content was a good refresher on lessons learnt previously. The course was very well delivered and kept my interest.
  • The course was great. As a new GBM this really helps set me up to have some quality input to the team. Also great that the material is designed to keep reinforcing year round- too many training courses are a day event with no follow up- this really has the potential to make a significant difference.

  • Great to reinforce & remind us how to get the best out of our salespeople, whilst keeping them engaged and enjoying their work.
  • The questioning tips have made a huge difference to the quality of conversations I have with my clients. This is furthered by the improvements in the preparation I do. Since the course I have won 22 NB clients as a result of asking for referrals. I am no longer afraid to sell myself and talk about the company whenever I get the chance.
  • I learnt so much from this course and the agenda and commitments sections have already improved the way I go about things and the results. Most of all its impact on my confidence has been huge and it has resulted in me stepping outside of my comfort zone. Since the course I presented at a networking event and I was really surprised how this made a difference to how easy it was for people to talk to me after.
  • A lot of the accounts we are touching are new to us so the planning and first impressions really helped us to be very well prepared across the history of these accounts Listening more and asking the probing questions, not hearing what I want hear. Before I did the course I did not ask for the commitment on the spot. This has resulted in the signing of 2 large programs.
  • (New Business Developer for >40 years). I learnt a lot from the course and it really challenged me to sharpen up on what I do. I did wonder 'why me' when my Team Leader told me I was going on the course however when I got there that all changed. I found it a very enjoyable experience that I have put to use regularly since.
  • The key point for anyone resisting this course is that we all need a tune up. I learnt heaps and I’ve been in this game 28 yrs.  On Tuesday’s session I learnt some really cool skills about dealing with conflict (LCER),  which was ****ing handy as we had a claim go wrong on Monday night and a second one on Tuesday morning for one of our largest clients – employed the old LCER technique later in the day – both resolved and client happy as Larry.

I'm not big in talking in groups & was not looking forward to a sales generated course coming from an admin background I can find them quite daunting however I am doing it daily already & Alf kept it interesting & I actually had fun & even looking forward to part II. Well done!
  • After participating in other training days I first came into this one with a bit of a negative attitude but within the first couple of minutes of Alf speaking and interacting with me that was all gone. One of the best sessions I have ever been to and I am looking forward to the other sessions now. Alf does a great job in making it simple yet useful. Sometimes training days can drag on for a long time but this didn't and I found myself engaged for the whole day. Alf is very approachable as well which makes asking him questions extremely easy.   • I usually dislike sales training, find it boring and irrelevant in a lot of cases. However, Alf's style of training was very enjoyable, held my interest and is relevant to my role. Thanks Alf, love your work!!
  • I would just like to say that I am really enjoying these sessions and am very impressed with Alf, our trainer, as he practices what he preaches. It is refreshing to have some one out of our industry who has taken the time to find out what we are about and to learn our business and then can give us real solutions to how we work and how to achieve our budget requirements. Over the years, I have attended these type of sessions before but this one has been the most relevant to our business.
  • I really enjoyed the course. It was very interactive and Alf made sure everybody had equal input despite there being several high contributors in our group who always wanted to add something. The highlights for me were setting an agenda (this has helped me overcome objections before the meeting has taken place), I now ask much better questions and I learn plenty about my clients as a result.

  • I find this stuff just comes to me when I am in front of the client, I find with other courses it’s like how do you apply this stuff?
  • Impressed with the total relevance to our company rather than the usual generic approach
  • A lot of the stuff I thought I knew very well but I didn't. The 3 and 4 session really stood out to me. Learning to listen to clients and staff and not already knowing the answer and I was missing a lot of really important info.
  • Session 5 and 6 LCER I got the most out of!! Completely rebuilt sales plan based on learnings and a legend that drives cross selling.
  • Being able to put out an agenda - made business easy. Preparing for the meeting, being bold enough to ask for things. Used conditional commitment to bring a client back who had been under attack and all but lost.
  • Helped me understand as to what I have been doing and where I have been going wrong. Structure, contact plans and agenda.
  • Contact plan has allowed me to prepare and my client to prepare resulting in renewal meetings being 2 way occasions and it allowed me to retain a huge account under attack and I got more business from them. I have also started to search for whitespace with in my portfolio.
  • Course has really reminded me of the important things in sales but it has structured the material much better. The way I approach commitments is different, which is the biggest thing I got from the course, and this has resulted in more business, retaining accounts and giving clients options in a price sensitive market.
  • Would have never had asked for a referral before the course. The biggest thing I have got out of this is confidence, the importance of service standards, client relationships and that I have to supplement drop off with revenues consistently.  Best ever training I have done.

  • Its been a great experience - Contact plan was particularly good, asking for commitments as I have never done it and now I am I have had success.
  • The key takeaway was the steering of a meeting to finalise and get commitment from the client - even yesterday this helped us get definitives from a meeting.
  • EAR has given me the confidence to ask for referrals - I never asked for these beforehand. Resulted in $345k lead. The course has helped me step out of my box.  Difference of post work being written and verbal.  There are only 5 people who can keep my interest and you are one of them.
  • I used this a structure to learn from as I did not know where to start when I got promoted into a new role – it’s essentially my bible.  More role playing as it’s amazing to break barriers...
  • For me the course is only going to set me up in the future - this course gave you the where and how to apply it. 
  • Before I had no agenda, now I do and it makes things so much more professional with one, it pre-empts conversations about other policies.
  • Planning before I go to meetings is the reason why my sales figures have started to rise in 3 months.
  • Program helped me understand that businesses constantly change and evolve and how pre meeting research is vital. The agenda is something I never did.
  • The biggest takeaway for me was more effective planning. The next thing that has been really beneficial to me is how I endorse myself with others even colleagues - I use the conditional commitment. LCER has helped me sooo much and lastly better preparation for a meeting with one of the richest people in the State.
  • This is helped me to sit there and look at the whole of the portfolio, identify who is important and treat them as such. Agenda setting side of things has really helped me retain control of the meeting and those strong personalities.
  • Provided me with a way to be better organised - I always had an agenda in my mind now I have one for the client. Asking for the commitment is another thing I have had a lot of success with. It has become second nature to me. I have also started to get referrals as clients are now seeing my attention to detail.

  • I found the course very enlightening and learnt many things that I do not do currently, this mainly due to the meeting side of things being dealt with by the facility manager, however I now feel that when the facility manager is away or unavailable that I can comfortably take on the steps to deal with prospective clients. Will take a little practise to get it flowing comfortably though :)

Changing up the groups, so working & practicing with different people. It was a good mix of spoken, visual and activities (standing and sitting) so kept the day moving along at a steady pace (especially given the amount of work to cover). Having different speakers as well was good. It was good seeking understanding from us and giving us time to place feedback when appropriate.
  • Mary, the learning from this programme includes: The step by step process when putting a sale together...... an agenda at the beginning of the meeting..... to uncover what impact certain situations have on the customer and to gain a commitment. Also as an account manager to regularly do six monthly reviews with clients/personalising packages for customers, doing research, asking..... "and what else?", asking..."in a perfect word", watching and learning from peers...... The whole course was relevent and significant, I really enjoyed it. .....having a very clear purpose of every meeting. Also dealing with objections, and very importantly not trying to put forward any form of solution at the first meeting!

Here is my example of a sales approach since the training... it’s never easy when there is a third party involved whom we do not deal directly with so I thought it was time to “get into their heads” on this one... We fully went into it all with all his issues about.... after an hour the result was fantastic not only did we decide on [how] to move forward we actually decided to manufacture three different types of xxxx to cover all the various issues they had brought to the table. Net result for me was an increase in the overall sale which was originally looking to be around $30K .... and the sale is now $75K !

Following up from yesterday’s session and my subsequent meeting with xxxxx where I presented a scope and costs of $400k on a no budget provided job. I did a significant set-up piece. What my colleague did better than I, was ask for confirmation as we did the set-up so that the client was agreeing and nodding with our recap of his requirements. So then when we revealed the cost after taking him through the estimate he was comfortable with it and wanted us to start the IA as soon as possible. So a great outcome and I learned to ‘shut up’ and give the client time to agree with us. Thanks to Julia, yesterday’s session was very timely.

Following the training I was able to ask plenty of questions, both technical and commercial, about their systems to better understand their asset base and assess possible future opportunities (getting into his head). I was able to discover that they are planning on building a large plant in a few years time and in the next 12 months they will be considering their procurement options. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to influence at an early stage of the process. We also know their technical advisors and can start influencing them. The meeting went for an hour and a half and was only scheduled for 30 mins!

Words of wisdom keep hitting me when conducting my tours at which have come directly from our Sales Training. From my point of view my meetings and tours are more structured. I always sit clients down in my office when they arrive, take their details and tell them how the tour will progress and explain that we will come back to my office to answer any questions and talk through the financial side of living in a retirement village. The training was very helpful and I now have a more structured approach to meetings and tours with key questions in the right places. My recent tour of 2 ladies was one of the best I have had, they had a 1000 questions and wanted to see everything and challenged me often about the financial side of the village. By the end of the tour they were really excited and can't wait to bring their husbands back.

From the training you gave I have sat down with each of the account managers in my area. I have found out what they see as their main bone of contention in regards to insulation and it appeared to be that they did not have a supply and install option. After taking all the feedback I put together a solution which included local installers so that we could offer a full supply and install package. We have since installed 3 new jobs which we would never have had before. This is an excellent channel for us as it clearly increases our sales and also strengthens the bond between us and the installer. Since under-going the Sales Training last week, I have made a conscious effort to instill confidence in the potential customer, by assuring them we can help them out with their queries within the initial few minutes of the call. By doing so, I have noticed that the client will generally relax a bit more, and more openly tell me about what they are looking for and why. I have also made an effort to ensure I adequately explain the relevant benefits in terms the client will understand, for example, he instantly took the policy out despite it working out to be more expensive than if he re-insured with. Without the knowledge (I now have) I don’t believe I would have been able to ‘tip the scales’ as efficiently..... I am 122% of target this week.
