Mary Sutton
BA (Honours) French, Otago University
After a brief (but idyllic) stint teaching English in Tahiti, Mary was an analyst with the New Zealand Defence Force’s Directorate of Defence Intelligence before becoming part of the successful recruitment consulting company OCG Consulting, later becoming a shareholder. Mary’s early recruitment experience encompassed specialisation in FMCG Sales & Marketing positions, however over the 14 years of her tenure, Mary recruited in or managed every industry sector in OCG’s portfolio, including FMCG, Retail & Wholesale, Financial Services, Manufacturing and the wider Services sector, giving her a comprehensive commercial insight into a broad range of client businesses.
Becoming an Associate Director in 2006, Mary developed new business and managed significant client accounts as well as managing sales staff. In recent years Mary created, alongside The Sales Training Company, a Business Development programme for which she became sole facilitator, training over a hundred OCG consultants in successful business development techniques. Alongside this work she strategically oversaw – and grew – the company’s extensive Preferred Supplier client portfolio as well as delivering development workshops to both consultants and clients, and directly managing several clients herself. As a skilled and proficient consultant and facilitator, Mary is a natural fit with The Sales Training Company. Her role involves working with our clients to develop, manage and facilitate their customised sales training programmes.
